If you’re someone with a busy schedule and looking to find relief sooner than weekly or biweekly sessions, intensives may be an option for you.
Here are the main points to consider if you’re wondering whether an intensive therapy session is right for you:
Most definitely not, we want to make sure to work within your bandwidth and honor both of our capacities. We can see an intensive as an extended session, really just more time. Our time will be spent checking in, grounding, reprocessing, and closing the session. Breaks are taken and you’re welcome to ask for a break or pause at any time in the session.
Extended sessions are up to 2 hours virtually or 4 hours in person. In person sessions are held in nature (link to nature therapy).
One of the advantages of having an extended session means we can spend time grounding and continuing the practices we’ve explored in previous sessions. Unlike regular 50 minute sessions, we can explore a theme or a particular event for longer and with less interruption. These can include: relationships at home and work; “bad” feelings of self-doubt, shame (insert decolonizing shame link), and loneliness; a recent or past traumatic event.
